You Can Spend the Night in the London Eye, But There’s a Caveat

Think of the view, though!

So here’s the thing: We hate contests. We hate lotteries. The only good one, ever, was for the $96,000 prize in In the Heights.

The rest of them: Pffft, get off our lawn, stop wasting our time.

Knowing the chances are slim to none, we just might enter this contest from TripAdvisor Rentals, which is kicking off its Airbnb-competing lodging service with a doozy: Enter and win and you’ll spend the night in a pod on the London Eye — the famous South Bank Ferris wheel that launched a trillion imitators. If you’ve been to London, you know: there aren’t a ton of places to get a bird’s-eye view of the city; it literally has low profile. A perch over London, 40 stories up, with the sun rising above the Thames? Yeah, that’d be pretty nice.

As a bonus/marketing tie-in, home goods outfitter Wayfair will supply a pod’s worth of interior decoration. This is less exciting to us, though it’s nice to know we wouldn’t have to stand all night.

Transatlantic transportation is included with the win. For details and regulations, head on over to TripAdvisor.
