The Gist

The Nike Killshot is poised for a major comeback in the sneaker market, offering its versatile, affordable style just as slimmer silhouettes and gum soles regain popularity. Bonus: it's currently on sale.

Key Takeaways

  • The Nike Killshot Leather 2 is well positioned to become the next go-to daily driver sneaker.
  • Its potential comeback aligns with current trends favoring slimmer sneaker silhouettes and gum-sole designs.
  • For a limited time, Nike is offering 25% off the Killshot, including on already discounted styles.

With the unavoidable downturn of the Adidas Samba on the horizon, sneakerheads everywhere are waking up to the fact that there’s a vacuum in the daily driver sneaker space. The next “everywhere” shoe, not a limited release but a widely available, relatively affordable sneaker coveted in Tokyo and Tennessee alike, has yet to make itself known.

There is, however, a sneaker primed for a serious resurgence — one that you probably owned a decade years ago. Nearly 17 years after its J.Crew-assisted revival, the Nike Killshot (now officially the Nike Killshot Leather 2) is quietly positioned to reclaim its r/malefashionadvice glory days. The best part? They’re currently on sale for at least 25% off when you use code DAYONE.

What makes me so confident in this prognostication? After all, while the Killshot’s casual court-sneaker styling, affordability (the full-price Killshot is $100, a bargain among today’s ballooning sneaker prices) and beater functionality saw its rise to prominence 30 years after its inception, it has admittedly fallen out of favor in the last 10 years.

But the trend winds are already slowly blowing back in the Killshot’s favor. With slimmer silhouettes increasingly becoming the norm and the gum-sole craze yet to die down, the timing feels right for a revival of the silo. Similar retro styles have already caught fire.

Personally, I’m all for it. I wore a pair of classic navy and white Killshots through high school, and, after some hesitation, re-upped on a crispy pair, this time in a sleek blacked-out colorway with white contrast stitching. You can do the same, or cop whichever design speaks to you. All that’s left for you to do is pick up a pair and beat the wave.

The Killshot 2, just like you remember.

…and way different than you remember.

Like the classic above, but lighter.

“Cacao” and “Sesame” are so in this autumn.

Need something slightly funkier? Try this multicolor.

It’s hard to go wrong with an all-white(ish) sneaker.

Major footy vibes.
