American Made and Bad Weather-Approved

Handsome, too.

Everyone needs a good motto:

“Without hope, we have nothing.” “May the gods be ever in your favor.” “It’s better to be pissed off than pissed on.” Etc.

Personally, we like this one: “We wear our clothes hard and our bags heavy.”

That apothegm comes courtesy of Mercy Supply Co., crafter of tough, American-made totes, work vests and leather goods, available now.

On that saying: “We’re based in Michigan,” says Mercy owner Rusty Zylstra. “We’re blessed with all four seasons. It’s important for me to be making products that I myself would use, no matter the weather.”

So, think tough wares with fine details that improve with age.

Some new stuff we liked:

  • A slim-cut Work Vest, built from waxed canvas with solid copper buttons and hand-hammered solid copper rivets at the stress points.

  • The Craftsman’s Apron: For your workshop. Waxed canvas/denim and brown harness leather trim with solid brass buckles. Fastens on the side like a belt.

  • The Mercy x Madcap Coffee Kit: Caffeine anytime, anywhere. A waxed canvas and leather coffee bag (pictured above) complete with stainless steel tumblers, filters, roasted beans and a hand grinder.

Plus: assorted waxed canvas totes, reusable Italian leather lunch bags, hand-dyed leather belts with burnished edges, camper hats, roll-top packs and trucker wallets.

Tough choices await.
