University of Iowa point guard Jordan Bohannon had a chance to set a school record Sunday with his 35th consecutive free throw made, but he chose not to in order to honor a past school legend. According to a new story on SI.com, Chris Street was killed in a car accident in 1993, during his free throw streak. Although a made free throw would have been valuable to an Iowa squad that had only an eight-point lead, Bohannon intentionally shorted his shot, pointing up to the sky in tribute after his failed free throw attempt. Street’s parents were at Sunday’s game, and shared a moment with Bohannon after the sophomore honored their son by preserving his record.
