Following MLB commissioner Rob Manfred saying he was “not confident” there would be a baseball season less than a week after saying he was “100 percent” certain his league would play in 2020, Mike Trout threw his support behind MLBPA director Tony Clark and the union.
Though it was a short one, the reigning AL MVP backed Clark and the MLBPA with a Tuesday tweet. “Tell us when and where!!” Trout tweeted in response to Clark’s statement that MLB’s players are “disgusted” with their commissioner reversing course.

Trout’s first tweet since May is a call back to what Clark said over the weekend after Manfred indicated he may institute a shortened season of 48 to 50 games that would guarantee players their full pro-rated salaries.
“It unfortunately appears that further dialogue with the league would be futile,” Clark said in a statement. “It’s time to get back to work. Tell us when and where.”
Previously, it sounded like Trout had some reservations about starting the season due to concerns about COVID-19. “I obviously want to play as fast as we can. Get to a city, maybe Arizona, they’re throwing out Florida … but being quarantined in a city, I was reading for — if we play — a couple of months, it would be difficult for some guys,” Trout said in April. “What are you going to do with family members? My wife is pregnant, what am I going to do when she goes into labor — am I going to have to quarantine for two weeks after I come back?”
It appears that, on the surface at least, his concerns have been alleviated.
