Ex-ESPNer Claims She Was Fired for Being White and Making Too Much

After being one of many popular personalities that lost their job at ESPN when the network made sizable layoffs last spring, Britt McHenry remade herself into a politically conservative Fox News commentator.

Possibly in keeping in character, McHenry tweeted last week that the network let her go because she was “white” and “made too much.” The tweet has since been deleted.

Immediately after her dismissal, McHenry had claimed that it was her conservative views that led to the Worldwide Leader letting her go.

Following the deletion of the tweet, Deadspin reached out to McHenry for comment. “I think there were a number of factors into laying me off,” she said. “I wish nothing but the best for the people there.”

While she hasn’t commented further about her firing or her racism claim, McHenry has indicated she has proof and may discuss her termination at ESPN in a forthcoming book.
