“Any way you want it, that’s the way you need it, any way you want it …” Words to live by. Words to dance on a golf course by. Also, for some, words to prepare food by.
That’s apparently what the creators of the smart grill Uber-Q believe, as their ultra-portable cooking rig has the flexibility to prep breakfast, lunch or dinner whenever and wherever you’d like.
A triangular charcoal barbecue at its core, the Uber-Q by the Asado Group comes with an array of metal attachments that enable it to fry bacon, roast a rotisserie chicken or prepare some shish kebab. With 1.7 square feet of total cooking space, the modular grill can be set up in five different positions and folds down into a package that’s only four centimeters thick when closed up tight.
The 4.5-pound grill also includes a weatherproof smart hub that pairs with your phone via Bluetooth and it can do everything from rotate the spittle to stream music. That last part is exactly where the Uber-Q started to lose us … we don’t need a grill to be our DJ! We’ve said it before, but smart grills are kinda wack and take damn near all the fun out of cooking. Popping a bluetooth speaker in there isn’t going to fix that.
Also, while we’re on the subject of things done poorly — to the 12% Americans ordering steak well done: please stop.
