Winter Isn’t Coming: ‘Game of Thrones’ Won’t Air Until 2019

Fans have to wait a whole year for the final six episodes.

Fans of Game of Thrones are in for a huge shock: the show will not air its final six episodes until 2019. It is the first time HBO has confirmed that the critically acclaimed series will not conclude in 2018. Over the summer, it was reported that show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss wanted to take a full year and a half to craft the eighth and final season. Benioff, Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be directing Season 8 and Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill are writing the final few hours of the show.
