‘Roseanne’ Canceled After Her Racist Tweet About Valerie Jarrett

Barr said the Obama adviser was the "baby" of the Muslim Brotherhood and "Planet of the Apes."

ABC announced on Tuesday that they are canceling their Roseanne revival following the star’s racist tweet comparing former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape. ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey called Barr’s comment “abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with our values.”

Barr tweeted on Tuesday morning that the black senior adviser to President Barack Obama was the “baby” of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. When Twitter users pointed out that it was a racist statement, Barr doubled down, saying that “Muslims r NOT a race.” She later deleted the tweet and apologized.

The revival of the classic sitcom was set to air a 13-episode eleventh season this fall.
