Netflix to Stream ‘Annihilation’ 17 Days After U.S. Release

The movie stars Natalie Portman.

Netflix is working with Paramount/Skydance to get Annihilation on the streaming service just 17 days after the film premieres in the U.S. It would be available internationally. Netflix would cover a majority of the film’s budget, similar to what they did with New Line and its sequel to Shaft.

The film, starring Natalie Portman, Gina Rodriguez, Oscar Issaac, among others, is set to premiere Feb. 17. It is from the first book in Jeff VanderMeer’s bestselling Southern Reach trilogy, and follows Portman’s character, a biologist who volunteers for a secret mission into alien territory after her husband goes missing.
