More than half the men who responded have either never heard of the #MeToo movement or they know so little they cannot explain what it is, According to a new survey by Glamour and GQ. The survey was administered by Toluna in April of 2018. It asked a series of multiple choice and write-in questions to 1,147 anonymous American men between the ages of 18 and 55 across a wide variety of geography, careers, incomes and racial backgrounds.

Forty-seven percent of the survey respondents have never discussed #MeToo with anyone. The survey also showed that many men are afraid of the #MeToo movement. One participant wrote that the movement doesn’t “come off as inclusive to men.” Thirty-five percent of respondents said they changed their dating habits in response to the movement.

GQ writes that the “#MeToo-Aware Man” is likely older, midwestern, more likely to be single, less likely to have kids in the house and makes less than $100,000. Meanwhile, the “#MeToo-Ignorant Man” is younger, Southern, married, has kids under 18 years old and is more likely to earn more than $100,000 and work in the executive level.
