Earlier this week, a man followed his GPS directions right into a river. The case of immediate regret occurred in Anhui, China. The driver, who was unharmed, told police he was merely following his GPS’s instruction and was unaware the dirt path he was on would lead his white Hyundai into the water.
It took police a day and a half to get his car out, Mashable reports.
Perhaps not coincidentally, this story comes on the heels of a study that showed relying just on GPS for navigation temporarily “switches off” parts of the brains associated with memory, planning, and decision-making.
The findings were published in Nature Communications.
