The Manufacturers of the AK-47 Just Made a Electric Car

Russian weapons manufacturer Kalashnikov — the creators of the AK-47 — unveiled a slew of new gadgets recently, including, surprisingly, a smart car seemingly envisioned out of the 1980s Communist regime but supposedly built to rival Elon Musk’s troubled company.

The CV-1, built on the basis of the retro-IZH-21252 “Combi,” has a cruising range of 350 km (217 miles) and accelerates from 0-62 mph in six seconds. It also looks like an East German Trabant, which was last manufactured in 1990.

At the same conference, the company also showed off a hybrid buggy for military operations, a pretty decent looking electric motorcycle and — paging RoboCop — a “controlled bipedal walker” with, as Russia Today puts it, “massive feet and T-Rex-like claws.”

Smart money’s on the robo T-Rex to lead them to greatness.
