Every Inch of Ferrari’s Outrageous FXX-K Evo Is Built for Speed

Look up 'aerodynamic.' If this isn't pictured, it should be.

In the beginning — 2005, anyway — there was the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione.

Then, in 2014, there was the FXX-K, a hybrid take of its track-only predecessor.

Completing the trifecta in 2017 is the new FXX-K Evo, a hypercar that channels the tech specs of F1, GT3 and GTE race cars. The ride was built after more than a year of computational fluid dynamics simulations and wind tunnel testing.

Aerodynamic as it is powerful, the 1,050-HP FXX-K Evo is aided by a  V12 and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with electric assist on the inside and a fixed rear wing on the outside. And if you squint, you’ll see a fin down the middle, too, which increases stability.

Thanks to those features and a number of other improvements, the carbon-fiber Evo is substantially lighter than the previous FXX-K but can still generate 23% more downforce. All that means the FXX-K Evo is capable of creating a jaw-dropping 1,411 pounds of downforce at 124 mph.

As with its predecessor, the limited-run FXX-K Evo does not have a price but purchase likely includes storage, transport and technical tweaks. There’s also an upgrade package for existing FXX cars.

Ferrari hasn’t released any video of the FXX-K Evo in action yet, but a sneaky YouTuber captured some footage of a wrapped-up model on the track about a month ago. Bless that man’s heart.
