The First ZR1 Convertible Since 1970 Pays Tribute to an Epic American Automobile

Fastest Corvette ever. Need we say more?

If you’re in the market for a new hair dryer, the $150 Drybar Baby Buttercup looks solid.

And if you’re looking to spend a little more, the Corvette ZR1 convertible will probably also do the trick.

Unveiled on the wheels of Chevrolet releasing the 2019 ZR1 coupe, the new drop-top model is the first ZR1 of its kind since Chevy put out the original 1970 model-year ZR1 convertible. It will also be the fastest Corvette ever made.

Packing almost all of the same features as the standard 2019 ‘vette (supercharged 6.2-liter engine with a top speed of 210 MPH,  seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, lightweight aluminum chassis), the ZR1’s only major difference is a folding convertible top that raises its curb weight by about 60 pounds.

“The new Corvette ZR1 convertible is a supercar in all respects,” said Chevy EVP Mark Reuss. “Few others can challenge the ZR1 convertible’s power and speed while offering the exhilaration of top-down motoring.”

The  ZR1 coupe comes with an MSRP of $119,995, while the convertible is expected to start at $123,995 (excluding tax, title and other dealer fees).

That’s only $123,845 more than the blow dryer.
